923. Don't be you today.
I just finished Andrea Waltz and Richard Fenton's new book, "Go For No (the sequel)." Cassidy, who is fresh out of college, goes to work with her dad selling, and wasn't prepared for the amount of rejection she was facing. Full of doubt, she told her dad, "I don't think I can do this." Her father's response? "Don't be you."
Today, I challenge you not to be you. Listen in and I will tell you why :)

All right. 3, 2, 1. Let's get it. Today I wanna challenge you with something that sounds a little crazy at first. Don't be you today. I just finished Go for No the sequel. By Andrea Waltz and Richard Fenton. If you have not read, go for No and go for no the sequel. They're both about a hundred pages each. That's your homework assignment for the next. I don't know. What is that? 20 days, 10 pages a day. They're short, short reads. Even if you're not in the sales profession, we're all selling our way through life. So I would urge you to get the book, get both books. And there's a chapter in there that hit me right in between the eyes. Cassidy, who was fresh outta college. Starts working in sales with her dad, and he's a season pro. He's a professional speaker and it's rough. She had no idea about the rejection that sales possesses, and she's facing rejection after rejection and she's ready to quit and she tells her dad, she's like, dad, I don't think I can do this. And his response. Then don't be you. And she looks at him all confused. He was like, what do you mean don't be me? And he breaks it down to her. He says, you've already decided that you can't sell. You've defined yourself based on your current limitations instead of your future potential. So stop being the version of you who can't, and start becoming the version of you that can. She says, wait, dad, lemme get this straight. You want me to just lie? And her dad said, no, I want you to stop lying when you say that you're not good enough when you say you can't do this. That's the real lie. Her dad went on to say, think about it as actors. Actors don't lie. They step into a character and they bring that character to life. They embody the character and they play it out on screen. You can do the same thing in life. You don't fake it, you project it. Dr. Benjamin Hardy wrote, if I'm gonna lose today, let it be to the man that I'm becoming, not the man that I am today. Because if you lose to the version of yourself that exists right now, you shrink, you retreat, and you reinforce your limits. But if you lose to the version that you're becoming, you stretch, you level up, you grow. Let me ask you a question today. Are you being or are you becoming, because think back when you were a kid, adults would ask you, what do you wanna become when you grow up? And you had curiosity. You had imagination. You had vision, and you didn't see any limitations. But somewhere along the way between the bills, the pressure, and someone else's expectations, you ceased becoming, and you just started being and being, get you stuck because you're static. It's survival mode, it's managing the moment instead of using the moment. To create momentum but becoming, that's where the spark is. That's where your power is. That's where your future is. If all you're doing is working from a place of who you are right now, you're never gonna experience the life that you could have. Why be just good if great is available? You're never gonna see the beauty of your potential. You're gonna be stuck managing today instead of creating tomorrow. So you gotta set a new standard. Set a bold goal stretch, because what's the worst that could happen? Go back to Dr. Hardy's line. If I'm going to lose today, let it be to the man that I'm becoming. I not the man that I am today, because at least if I lose, I've moved further. At least I've stretched. At least I've gained clarity and momentum. And when you stretch, you don't see limitations. You see possibility. Do you want independence? Do you want that fire, that freedom, that boldness in your life? Then bro, you gotta be curious. You gotta be creative. You gotta be bold. That's the formula. Be curious. Be creative. Be bold. Stop waiting for permission. Our blue skies, our straight roads, just go. And you don't go as you are. You go from who you wanna become. That's where your power is. That's where your freedom lies. Because see, there's a version of you, a future version that you're proud of that kicks in doors, that climbs walls, and that finds a way outta no way, that's the art of becoming sadly, most people play not to lose, but you play to win. So don't be you today. Be who you're becoming. Keep it simple. Keep it moving. Never settle. Stay tough. Peace.
