868. Luck is not just "luck." The 4 components of luck.
"Luck isn't just a roll of the dice. Luck is a component of how you live your life, how you use your energy, what you do for others, and what you pull in." - John Paul DeJoria, founder of Patron Spirits & Paul Mitchell hair products.
Today, I want to break down these four components so you can create some GOOD LUCK in your life.

All right. 3, 2, 1. Let's get it. Welcome back to the show. The show is what's your problem? The podcast. If you don't know who I am. I'm your host Marsh Buice on this show, we talk about the three universal problems. All of us face adversity, uncertainty, and complacency. And I want to help you develop some life skills to be able to handle the adversity, embrace uncertainty and never settle again. The three universal problems and those skills, you already have them within. The more that you've used these skills and bringing awareness to them and use them. The better, you're going to be able to handle the three problems in your life. And those skills all start with the letter C communication, curiosity, creativity, continuous learning, and action. And productive confrontation. That way. You'll be RFA. Ready for anything? Do you know everything? No. Will you be ready for anything? Absolutely. It just depends. On how well you use these skills. So let's talk about luck today. Luck is not just luck. This is what I titled the episode. It's not luck. John Paul Dijourn hopefully I'm saying his name, right. And he's the co-founder of Patron spirits and Paul Mitchell, the hair line that I know nothing of, uh, those of you who are watching the video. know that I don't have bad hair days. Every day is a bad hair day, I guess. Depending on how you look at it. Because I'm completely bald. But John Paul Dejourn said that you have to look at luck. As an energy. It's a form of intention. And so when you believe fully in something. The more energy you put into something. That energy that you put into it. Is going to give you a bump in the universe. And the universe may reward you. With a little extra advantage that other people don't get. See, this is what you're playing for every day. Is you're creating separation. You're creating an extra bump. That others don't get. This is why you look from the outside and you look at someone who's lucky. We've all said it and said, man, that dude just stumbles into luck. I mean, everything he touches, he's lucky. Right? It's because what they're doing is, is they're actually manufacturing their own luck. They're creating that. And so the more reps that they put into that over and over single-minded focus over and over again, creates that extra separation. And that separation puts you in position to receive. Good luck. Now he goes on to say, That luck is not just a roll of the dice. Luck is not just luck. I say. Because luck is composed of four different things. And that's what I want to talk about today. And those four components of luck. R how you live your life, how you use your energy, what you do for others. And what you pull in. And so let's unpack those quickly. So that way you can begin to think about an act. In creating your own luck. Isn't that a great thing? Isn't that something different on how you look at luck. That I can actually create it. On these four different components. So think about this with me. Number one, how you live your life. It is impossible to live one way and expect a different result. It's impossible to live in a destructive way. Yet you want to live in the land of milk and honey, it's not going to happen. So is your life. In alignment. With the person that you want to be. Is it in alignment? With the results that you want to see. If the answer is yes. Keep doing more of those things. If the answer is no. You need to construct a few activities every day. That puts you in alignment. To become that person. The timeframe is not up to you. It's about creating that separation. That when life tries the head fake you or tries to knock you off track or things, try to pull you down. Will you put your energy and your intention? In living your life, that's in alignment with the person that you want to become. That's the first part, the second component. Of how to create your own luck. Is how you use your energy. Think about this one for a minute. Your energy leaks. You're probably oozing. Energy. In unproductive ways. Now, I'm not saying that you have to be all about business all the time. You don't have to be all about your business. I'm not saying you have to be David Goggins. I'm not saying you have to be Mr. Stiffen starchy. You don't have to be that, but I do believe that you should earn your laziness. I do believe that you should get things done. And then. Have a lazy moment. I have a lazy hour. That's cool. There's nothing wrong with that because relaxation is part. Uh, the rejuvenation process, you do need some of that. But if you think about the energy leaks, how you use your energy, how are you using your energy every day? Okay. Are you standing around talking about people? Are you vegetating out on Netflix, just trying to get through all of the series of whatever it is that you're watching. Are you talking about going to the gym yet? You never do. Do you just mindlessly swipe your credit card because you need a little shopping therapy. What is it? So you think about these energy leaks when you really just kind of pay attention to it? You're like, I'm not using my energy productively. So if you bring your life in alignment with the person that you want to be and the results that you want to see. And you align your energy. In that area. Then once you check the box for the day, enjoy the rest of the day. However it unfolds, but not in a destructive way where you wake up the next day in a deficit. All right. So that's how you use your energy. So how you live your life, how you use your energy, the third component of creating luck, put yourself in the best possible position in life. Is what you do for others. Now number one, let me preface this by saying you come first, you got to take care of you. And I say in a productive kind of way, that way the world gets the best representation of you. But what are you doing for others? You know, it's super easy to tear somebody down. Are you, are you a plus in someone's life? Are you helping build someone up? The easy part is the tear them down. I did a podcast a couple of years back where, you know, this office building, it probably took them, I don't know, a year and a half. Not really on the office building. Planning guide, but I, you know, it probably took them a year and a half to build that off as building. But it took them two days to tear it down. The office building was old, so they just decided to tear it down. And dude I'm telling you I was on my way home. Like in two days I saw in the first day I saw him starting to tear it down by the end of the second day. Should do that. That's lab was completely clear at off. That's what it is in our life. That's what that's, what tearing people down can do. What takes years to build up? You can tear it down. In seconds. You don't want that on your hands? You don't want to be that kind of person. So, you know, I do believe if you don't have anything nice, most people talk about. One of the two GS. Growth or gossip. Most people, 90% of the people talk about gossip. They talk about others. It talk about how they would run the world if they were in charge. Whatever their world is. Talk about growth. Be a plus one in someone's life. And the rest of it, man, walk away from it. So what are you doing for others? Let me tell you this everybody's a bad ass at something. Everybody's an expert at something you have some niches that you think that, you know, It's funny. You won't what someone else has. You want their skills, their talent yet. You're totally not even paying attention to the skills and talents that you innately already possess focus on that. Somebody out there. Needs. What you have. What you've become. And who better. To help then the person that you once were. Reach back and help those people out. So that's what you do for others. Put something out there, a value. And then the last one is the last component. Of creating your luck. Is what you pull in. Now, this one made me think a little bit. What you pull in. Is dependent on what you put out. Whatever you put out there is what you're going to pull in. It's the law of attraction. So if you're putting out. Bad things. Trying to one up people trying to backstab them tearing people down. Vegetating all day long. Just laid up. Smoking drinking, watching Netflix all day, talking about going to the gym. Steal them from your employer, whatever. You're putting that out there. You're going to pull it back in if you want a better course of luck. Then put yourself in position. And I think what you pull in is dependent on the three other things we just talked about. How you live, your life is in alignment. With the person that you want to be and the results that you want to see. How you use your energy? Be aware of the energy leaks, earn your laziness. And then what you do for others. build people up. If you'll do those three things. The four things, just a by-product you're going to pull in. Good luck. All right. So CRE this is what's liberating about. Talking about, this is no matter where you are in your life, no matter what your situation is right now. You can create your own luck. You may not feel lucky right now, but if you really take stock and where you are. Today. Probably where you are. Is a culmination. Of. The four things we just talked about. How you live your life. How you use your energy? What'd you do for others? And what you pull in. So take stock in that. Draw the line in the sand. Don't big lip. It don't kick. the can down the road. You can stop it right now. And be, and begin to create your own good luck. All right. Good luck to you. Keep it simple. Keep it moving. Never settle.
